Watford striker Troy Deeney has undergone groin surgery.

Watford have confirmed that Deeney has undergone “minor surgery" on his groin problem today.

It comes after the Hornets captain posted a picture on Instagram earlier today of him lying in a hospital bed shortly before the procedure was carried out, with the message “off we go".

The 29-year-old was left out of the Hornets tour party to Austria due to the complaint and posted on the social media site earlier this week that he “can't wait to be back playing".
