Watford have signed Middlesbrough winger Adam Johnson on a three-month loan.
England Under-21 international Johnson has found his chances limited at the Riverside Stadium with Stewart Downing standing in his way on the left wing.
The Sunderland-born player has made 18 starts and 20 appearances as a substitute after forcing his way into the first team squad as a 17-year-old under Steve McClaren.
Hornet's boss Aidy Boothroyd said: "I'm thrilled to have him here as he'll push Jobi McAnuff and Tommy Smith and will give us further options out wide."
