Watford snap up Hungarian prospect

Watford have swooped to sign Hungarian starlet Botond Antal from Ujpest.

The 16-year-old goalkeeper has enjoyed trials at Nottingham Forest and Reading, but he has now accepted the offer from Watford.

"I know every day [in my career] I must practice, I've never been satisfied with what I've reached," an ambitious Antal told Nemzeti Sport.

Antal will turn professional at Vicarage Road once he turns 17.

Ujpest coach Istvan Urbanyi admits he could not stand in the way of Antal's move to England.

"There's a theory that at this young age one shouldn't allow the player to move abroad, first he should play and get stronger in the Hungarian first division," Urbanyi said.

"I can't deny this opinion, but I think every footballer is different in many points. Botond received an offer that would have been a mistake to reject and not only on the side of money.

"It is a happy end if he goes because he'll surely become a professional goalkeeper."
