Watford skipper Troy Deeney was critical of Chelsea striker Diego Costa's conduct in the goalless draw between the clubs at Vicarage Road.
The Spain international was involved in a scuffle with Hornets defender Juan Carlos Paredes in stoppage time of the first half.
Both players received a yellow card for their theatrics and Deeney believes that such incidents would have been laughed off in Sunday Leagues around the UK.
"It's new age football, a little touch and everyone goes down," Deeney said.
"The ref spoke to him, and then spoke to him again and I just asked the ref was he going to book him.
"To be fair, it's just handbags between everyone.
"I remember playing Sunday league - that wouldn't have happened.
"Everyone would have got laughed at. It's just one of those things."
