Watford No1 Loach: Great keeper talent among England youth

Watford goalkeeper Scott Loach insists England's keeper stocks are in good shape.

Now he is being chased by a string of Premier League clubs eager to prise him away from Watford.

"There is a new generation of keepers coming through," Loach said. "Players like Jason Steele at Middlesbrough and Alex Smithies at Huddersfield, they have played a lot of games at a young age.

"Don't write off Ben and Scott Carson or Rob, either. I know Rob's not young any more but he showed what a class keeper he is with that game against Spurs.

"Joe Hart's the number one at the moment, though. He is very good. You can see he is not fazed by anything. That makes things a lot easier for him on the pitch.

"He is very confident and he just takes everything in his stride. He is very loud but in a good way.

"He is not cocky. He is a team motivator. He is one of the loudest voices in the dressing room.

"His whole character, his whole presence, you can see he is destined for big things and he takes that attitude with him on to the pitch.

"I just want to help the Under-21s get qualified and if my name keeps getting mentioned around the senior team even if it's just for number three and to go for training, I am more than happy to do that and wait my turn.

"When I heard that Paul Robinson had retired, if I'm honest, it gave me a boost. It's my gain. It's another one out of the way.

"Mr Capello seems to want to go with youth and he has called me up twice for competitive matches. It's a great time for me. It just makes me want to work harder."
