Watford News: Giraldi admits market difficulty; Gray confident in Deeney partnership

Watford chief Filippo Giraldi admits it's difficult finding players this month to improve Marco Silva's best XI.

The Hornets are in need of reinforcements this month, manager Silva has made that clear, but the Italian used an interview with the club website to pour cold water on the chances of numerous players coming in.

"We understand football and we want a long-term project," Giraldi told the official website.

"Give every player we sign the right time to sign how good he is and if it'll work at this club.

"Like everyone, we make mistakes. We are as good as we can be if reduce mistakes - we will make them.

"We are working hard and putting the effort in to be a successful team going forward. It's not easy for us to sign a player who can have an immediate impact in our starting 11."

Meanwhile, Andre Gray insists he and Troy Deeney can form a lethal strike partnership.

“That (with a partner) is how I have played the past two seasons and it frees me up a little bit more," Gray explained, reflecting on their 2-2 draw with Southampton.

“It is difficult playing on your own up front sometimes and you have to do every aspect of the game. Personally I like to go in behind and I have to adapt, come short and try and win headers when I play alone.

“The way the game was going, I think we needed to change to two up top and the manager recognised that.

“We went back to basics I think and Troy won a lot of headers and roughed them up. That gave us a lot of openings and on another day I think we could have won."
