Watford midfielder Tom Cleverley is on the brink of signing permanently from Everton.

The Watford Observer says Cleverley is a game away from triggering a clause in his deal to sign permanently for the Hornets this summer.

Cleverley made his eighth appearance for the Golden Boys in this afternoon's game at Crystal Palace, and should he make a ninth before the end of the campaign, his transfer will automatically be made permanent.

Given the Basingstoke-born midfielder has started each of their last seven games, his move looks likely to be sealed when Watford host Sunderland on April 1.
