Watford lose backroom staff to former boss Mackay at Cardiff

Cardiff boss Malky Mackay has raided former club Watford to bolster his backroom team. First-team coach David Kerslake, youth-team coach Joe McBride and head of performance Richard Collinge have left Vicarage Road and followed Mackay to the south Wales club.

Their arrival has seen Terry Burton, Paul Wilkinson and Alex Armstrong placed on gardening leave.

A statement on Cardiff's official website said: "The club can confirm that contracts have been completed for the arrivals of senior coaching staff David Kerslake and Richard Collinge, while Joe McBride is set to complete terms with the club on Friday.

"We would like to place on record our sincere best wishes and thanks to Terry, Paul and Alex, all of whom have moved the club into a far better position based on their hard work under former manager Dave Jones.

"We are sure all Cardiff City supporters will join us in thanking them for their hard work and commitment over the past few years."
