Watford goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes has spoken of former manager Oscar Garcia's emotional departure.
Ex-Brighton boss Garcia, 41, who had been discharged from hospital following tests after complaining of chest pains, joined staff and players for the picture on Monday morning.
The former Barcelona star, whose playing career in Spain ended at 32 on medical grounds, was expected to take back the managerial reins until his bombshell resignation at lunchtime on Monday.
Watford keeper Gomes told the London Evening Standard: "We knew after Monday's session that he was not going to continue with us.
"He was very emotional when he told us and it was very emotional for me. He told me he can achieve good things over here and he wanted to be part of it as well but unfortunately he can't. He is part of the club and he will be supporting us from wherever he is. That will be a strong point for us.
"It's sad but it's about him getting the confidence back. It's not easy but he is young enough and strong enough to manage again.
"We didn't know before about Oscar's health problems. He has to be careful now and it's not easy.
"It was brave of him to make the decision to leave. The club gave him the opportunity to sit back a bit but he felt not good enough to help us because of his health. His decision is brave and he has to be look after himself."
