Watford are in talks with Inter Milan for Saphir Taider.

The Mail on Sunday says the Algerian midfielder briefly joined Southampton on loan from Inter last summer but the deal was terminated and he was sent back to Inter after making just one friendly appearance amid questions over his attitude.

Inter are keen to offload him and Watford owner Gino Pozzo was in discussions with Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio over a move for the 23-year-old midfielder on Wednesday night.

Watford have also enquired about former Fulham striker Stefano Okaka at Sampdoria but he has reservations about what role he will play at Vicarage Road.
