Watford captain Deeney on 'cojones' taunt: I'm allowed to say it. I was Arsenal fan

Watford captain Troy Deeney reckons he helped Arsenal's season with his "cojones" comments.

The Watford skipper insists that he was 'qualified' to make the comments.

He told YouTube channel XO: "I'm more qualified than most people to talk about Arsenal - I grew up watching Arsenal - back when they had five or six proper players.

"When [Watford] played Arsenal and they lost on that day I thought they didn't have enough leaders on the pitch. So I said it."

He continued: "I spoke to [Ainsley] Maitland-Niles, after I missed the penalty, and said 'I'm glad I can help you bring out a decent crowd.

"Because I watched the game when they lost a week before to Man City, when the snow came and they had like 10,000 there - but then for the next game it's sold-out and everyone's giving Troy grief.

"I've made Arsenal's season. They've stepped up since then."
