Watford boss Malky Mackay says they're fortunate to have signed on-loan Manchester United winger Tom Cleverley.

Mackay landed the 20-year-old Manchester United midfielder on loan until January earlier this week and was thrilled to see him make an immediate impact with a goal in Tuesday's 4-2 win at Nottingham Forest.

"I was delighted with him," said Mackay. "I don't think he gave the ball away once.

"He showed his quality, I was delighted to get him and there was some competition to actually sign him."
