Watford manager Javi Gracia has complemented Gerard Deulofeu on his debut performance against Stoke City on Wednesday night.

The former Everton winger moved to Vicarage Road from Barcelona earlier this week.

Deulofeu got his loan spell off to a good start by providing plenty of energy in a lacklustre goalless draw.

Gracia said: "Gerard played well. He made a big effort to give the team defensive balance and on the right he also created many chances.

"I'm happy with his work and I hope he improves day by day like the level of the team."
