Watford boss Gracia delighted with 2-goal Pereyra

Roberto Pereyra put transfer talk to one side to inspire Watford to victory over Brighton on Saturday.

Pereyra was the hero for Watford as they started their season off with a win against Brighton at Vicarage Road thanks to his brace either side of half time.

Javi Gracia's men took the lead ten minutes before the break, and doubled their advantage nine minutes after the restart as Brighton started the season with a familiar feeling on the road.

Gracia stated afterwards: “I think to start with a win is very important but the way we did it is more important to us.

“We played really well, not only with the ball but without the ball – quick reactions after losing it – and playing really as a team. I'm happy for the players."

Asked about his two-goal man-of-the-match, Gracia said: “He doesn't surprise me because I know he's able to do it, but today he opened the game with a corner kick and after that Roberto scored a goal how he can. But as I said before, he doesn't surprise me."
