West Brom defender Ahmed Hegazi will avoid FA punishment after appearing to thump Danny Ings during Saturday's 2-2 draw with Liverpool.
The Egyptian defender, 27, was sweating over a three-match ban for violent conduct, which would have ended his season.
Hegazi clashed with Ings and, as the pair tangled on the turf, TV cameras caught the Baggies defender clearly rabbit-punch the Anfield ace. Ref Stuart Attwell missed the incident at the time and the matter was referred to the FA’s disciplinary panel.
The panel failed to reach a unanimous verdict - which is required to punish the player - after at least one decided Hegazi’s action did not fall into the category of violent conduct.
