Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp received a round of applause for his pre-match talk ahead of the charity game with Celtic last weekend.
With the likes of former Reds stars Dirk Kuyt, Jason McAteer and Chris Kirkland watching on, fellow Liverpool old boys Jamie Redknapp and Emile Heskey were on the receiving end of Klopp's wit.
“You can decide how long you play, I don't care!" the German tells his squad. “After 10, 15 or 20 minutes, if you feel you're not in your best shape anymore, believe me we already knew it five minutes earlier.
“I know a few of you, as a pundit especially, so today you will play 120 minutes," Klopp then jokes to Sky Sports pundit Redknapp before turning his attention to the absent Heskey as he acknowledges a late change to his team.
“In this moment, Mr Heskey is not here. We don't know why so before we start blaming him we should make sure he's ok."
He continued: “You should not have to worry, I saw their team. Stoichkov, how old is he? My age? Older?"
Prompting laughter from his squad throughout, Klopp saw the end of his team talk greeted with a round of applause.
“Wow! That's the first time that's happened!" he concluded.
