Martin Skrtel was saved by Slovakia teammate Ondrej Duda from swallowing his tongue after the football struck him in the temple during a friendly with Thailand.

The Fenerbahce defender collapsed in the 27th minute. But fortunately Duda realised the severity of what was happening and duly prevented Skrtel from swallowing his own tongue.

Amazingly, Skrtel went back on the field following the scare and played until the 72nd minute.
