Warzycha hopeful of top Columbus Crew job

Robert Warzycha has revealed he's up for the top job at Columbus Crew. In a guest column for evertonfc.com, the former Blues midfielder revealed: "As for me, I am now assistant coach at Columbus Crew and we've just won the MLS Cup [the league title]. To win the league in any country is a great feeling. It was something special and something we've been waiting 14 years for.

"We played very well and it was deserved. The league is getting better and there's more money involved. Obviously David Beckham is here raising the profile and we're going in the right direction. But we'll always be behind the Premier League. Simply, we don't have the history.

"But I love it here and actually I have some news. I'm currently in the running to become the head coach [manager] of Columbus Crew. Sigi Schmid has gone to another club and I'm among the candidates to replace him. I'm really excited at the prospect, so please keep your fingers crossed for me!"
