Warnock warns QPR players their places under threat

QPR boss Neil Warnock has warned his players their places are now under threat.

Warnock is now set to be handed the funds to make some major moves in the transfer market after a summer watching the pennies.

He said: "The players always worry about themselves as well, don't they? There will be some sort of trepidation.

"They're playing for their places, really. They've got to show that they want to stay in the team.

"They read the papers, they know the type of players that I'm looking at.

"We want four, maybe even five players before the end of August and that's what I'm trying to get in."

Top of Warnock's wanted list is West Ham's inspirational midfielder Scott Parker.

Rangers have also been linked with Shaun Wright-Phillips, Nedum Onuoha and Joe Cole - and all of a sudden the high-earning quartet are realistic targets.

Warnock said: "It's fair to say that some of the names mentioned wouldn't have been dreamed about a week ago."
