Warnock urges SWP to focus on QPR

Neil Warnock has called for new signing Shaun Wright-Phillips to put all of his energies into QPR rather than look to return to the England national team setup.

The 29-year old winger has made over 30 appearances for the Three Lions but has not played in the team for a year.

Warnock is aware the Wright-Phillips is capable of again representing his country but feels it would be wiser to wait until Fabio Capello leaves after next year's European Championships before having another crack at it.

"I think Shaun's got to play football," Warnock told Sky Sports News.

"I think Shaun should just concentrate on QPR this year and wait until the manager's gone for England and start afresh.

"I think everybody will be given a clean bill of health when Capello leaves.

"Before then he needs to maintain his form and fitness. It's great to say he had a great game the other night, but he's got to do that on a regular basis.

"He'd love to play at Euro 2012, but as I've said to him; don't go looking for that, just concentrate on enjoying your game and people will look at you.

"You can't stop but look at him when he's in full flight because he's wonderful to see.

"He's told me he'd love to make the England squad, that's his ambition."
