Stephen Warnock is set to be handed a cut-price transfer by Aston Villa.
The People says Villa boss Gerard Houllier wants to find a quality left-back signing this summer.
If successful, it would mean out-of-favour Warnock being allowed to go for a bargain fee.
His wages put off Wigan Athletic when the Latics tried for him in January.
