Warnock delighted with QPR’s defensive signings

QPR boss Neil Warnock admits the three defensive signings he made in the summer are all quality players.

The R’s brought in right-back Luke Young from Aston Villa, centre-half Anton Ferdinand from Sunderland and left-back Armand Traore from Arsenal and they combined to keep a clean sheet on debut against Newcastle United on Monday night.

Warnock says all three players have plenty of promise for the season ahead for the revitalized West London club.

“I don't see a better right-back than Luke Young in the England squad but I'm biased probably,” Warnock told Sky Sports News.

“I think Anton Ferdinand has got every attribute if he can listen and doesn't know it all, and listens to one or two things about the defensive side of the game.

“And I don't see many better left-backs than Armand Traore if he learns one or two defensive situations. They're all promising players to deal with.”
