Leeds United boss Neil Warnock has doubts his squad has enough depth to withstand the rigours of a full season in the Championship. Warnock drafted in 11 new players during the close season but still feels he is three or four short of being able to launch a serious promotion challenge.
Asked if his current squad could see him through, Warnock replied: "No, not a cat in hell's chance. I'm not just saying it to scaremonger people, but for example if we lost [Jason ] Pearce and [Rodolph] Austin I don't know where we'd turn to to be honest.
"But there's a lot of clubs like that. If you lose two or three of your main players. It would be great for me to sign three or four good players on loan or permanent, I know it would, but it's not to be.
"You all know what the situation is at clubs, that's why as a manager all you can do is do your best and try and put a team out that gives everything. Get every ounce of energy you can out of every player and when they don't come up with that, that's what disappoints me."
Warnock claims this season's Championship is the toughest he can remember, adding: "Even with the money men in the league, I think it's the closest league for a long, long time this year. I don't see anybody running away with it, for all the money that they've got."
