Wanyama excited at Champions League football with Celtic

Victor Wanyama is looking forward to helping Celtic get back among Europe's elite in next season's Champions League. Scottish champions Celtic will have to negotiate two qualifying rounds through the champions' path before reaching the lucrative group stages. And Victor Wanyama cannot wait for the competition to start.

"I watched a lot of the Champions League back home as they show the games in Kenya," the 20 year old told Celtic View.

"I saw Celtic play Man United four years ago, at Celtic Park, when they drew 1-1.

"That was probably my earliest memory of watching Celtic play, well at least in the Champions League anyway because I would always watch them play against Rangers.

"It is the best tournament you can play in with your club.

"We haven't been there for a while so we all want to get back to where we should be."

And the Kenyan is excited about the prospect of testing himself against the best clubs in Europe.

"I would play football in the streets and we would all be wearing football strips for the team we were supporting," he said.

"Some of them had their Chelsea tops on, others would have Manchester United, so to play against big teams like that would be a dream come true.

"It won't be easy because anything can happen and nothing is ever easy in the Champions League but we have a good team and we will work hard."
