Robin van Persie faces being stuck at Arsenal for the start of the season.

The Mail on Sunday says Van Persie is facing a race against time to secure a move this summer.

Arsenal are determined not to let transfer negotiations drag on deep into August and risk a repeat of last year's disastrous opening to the season.

The club are even prepared to make their captain see out the final year of his contract as they seek to avoid disrupting pre-season, as happened last year thanks to the departures of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri.
