Stoke City striker Jon Walter credits his form to finally getting married to Jo and settling down with their six-year daughter Scarlett.
Walters, 27, is on fire, scoring five goals in his last eight games - including two against Bolton in the Cup semi-final and the strike that sealed Sunday's 3-1 victory over Arsenal.
He said: "Getting married co-incided with the time my career got going again. When you settle down with a wife and child, it changes you.
"I'd say 99 per cent of young players get ahead of themselves - thinking they've made it. I was one of those.
"Ten years ago, I was in the Blackburn team that got to the FA Youth Cup final against Arsenal.
"There were players tipped to be the next big thing - but not one of them is currently playing professional football. It's the same now, most young players will fall by the wayside.
"But having kids switches you from being selfish to dedicating yourself to them."
