Walter Mazzarri has spoken with Crystal Palace about the manager's job.

Mazzarri was sacked by Watford at the end of last season.

Calciomercato.it says he was first approached by Chinese club Jiangsu Suning – the sister club to Inter Milan – but turned them down.

Instead, former Fiorentina and Leicester City boss Paulo Sousa has flown out for negotiations.

And now Mazzarri is in talks with Crystal Palace, but wants a club that will aim for something more than mere safety.
