Walter Mazzarri has agreed terms with Watford.
Sky Sports says former Sampdoria, Napoli and Inter Milan coach Mazzarri, 54, will sign a three-year contract at Vicarage Road - and confirmation of that deal is expected in the next few days.
Mazzarri will become the eighth head coach to work under the Pozzo family since they completed their takeover of Watford in 2012.
Watford parted company with Quique Sanchez Flores at the end of the season, despite the Spaniard leading the club to a 13th-place finish in the Premier League and the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
Mazzarri won the Coppa Italia with Napoli in 2012 and led the club to a runners-up finish in Serie A the following season.
