Walker admits Guardiola's love of attacking full-backs motivated Spurs exit

Manchester City full-back Kyle Walker admits that Pep Guardiola's love for attacking full-backs was one of the biggest reasons behind his move to the club in the summer.

The 27-year-old joined City in a move worth around £50m from Tottenham in the summer. The England international has made an impressive start to life at City as they sit joint-top of the league table.

"I think that was one of the big reasons for signing here was that the gaffer likes to play the way I like to play with attacking full-backs," he said.

"The standard of full-backs is very high as well. He is improving me as a player. I need to keep training hard and keep working at the things that I need to improve on just to make sure that I get that shirt come Saturday or in the Champions League.

"I think it is going to push all three of us. Dani can play left or right, and Mendy and I are occupying each side.

"It is a good dressing room to be around. We all expect high standards from each other.

"We need to keep working hard as a back three with full-backs and keep doing what the gaffer says, keep attacking and offering that outlet for the midfielders in creating space."
