Wales star Ramsey to miss start of season with Arsenal

Aaron Ramsey could miss the beginning of the 2016/17 Premier League season.

The midfielder starred for Wales in their brilliant run to the semi-finals of Euro2016 and is likely to be given time off by Arsenal to recover.

The Daily Mail reports that Arsene Wenger will allow Ramsey to rest before he links up with the Gunners for pre-season training, just as he did with Mesut Ozil, Per Mertesacker, and Lukas Podolski after they won the 2014 World Cup with Germany.

Ramsey says he will return to Arsenal next month before getting back into training and preparing himself for the season ahead.

"I am back on the August 1 so I have a a few weeks off but obviously it kicks off a couple of weeks afterwards," said Ramsey.

"A few years ago Germany won the World Cup and those players came in just a few days before the first game of the season but they missed that.

"So the manager does like to give players a little break and I'll be getting the same treatment. I feel I need a few weeks off now."
