Wales coach Coleman won't risk fitness of Hull defender Chester

Wales coach Chris Coleman won't put any pressure on debutant James Chester.

It is the first call-up for the Hull City defender.

A torn hamstring suffered in the 3-2 win at Newcastle in September returned in January and though the latest complaint was not as serious, the Tigers' medical team were keen to see a period of extended rest this summer.

Chester's call-up will scupper those plans but Coleman has vowed not to hand out a first cap unless the defender can prove he is fully fit.

"He will come with us and I'll have a look at him," said Coleman, whose 23-man squad also included Real Madrid star Gareth Bale.

"We won't take any risks with him, so if there is any question of him not being 100 per cent because of his hamstring, he won't be risked."
