Wales coach Chris Coleman will be careful about his move for Stoke City skipper Ryan Shawcross.
Arsenal's Wales captain Aaron Ramsey was out for nine months with a double leg fracture after Stoke star Shawcross' tackle in February 2010.
The pair are yet to speak, with Ramsey choosing to ignore Shawcross' apology as he lay in hospital.
Coleman said: "Ryan is a good player who could strengthen us.
"I will have a conversation with Aaron because he's somebody I respect a great deal, he's our captain and an important player. I won't shy away from it because there are issues."
