Walcott says Arsenal now have Spurs firmly in sights

Theo Walcott says Arsenal are gunning for Tottenham's third place after victory over Newcastle United.

Thomas Vermaelen struck in the fifth minute of injury time after connecting with Walcott's centre as fourth-placed Arsenal moved to within one point of bitter rivals Spurs in the Barclays Premier League.

"Tottenham have got to be watching over their shoulders now," Walcott told Sky Sports.

"With the squad of players we've got - and we've got a lot of players coming back to fitness now - we believe that we can go much further.

"It's been an up and down season, but it's the way you finish, and that's the most important thing."

He added: "We're just getting our jobs right. Defensively we've been fantastic. We know we can always score goals but lately we've not been conceding too many, and that stat's fantastic."
