Tottenham legend Chris Waddle is urging Gareth Bale to stay. Waddle wrote in the Daily Mail: "I'd like to see Tottenham nail him down to a new contract at the going rate, whatever that is.
"A year playing like this in the Champions League and he will be in the £70million bracket. Big clubs will offer big money. But maybe it's time for him to give Tottenham a bit back. The club are growing, with talented players and a good manager. With one or two acquisitions Spurs can challenge for the title next year.
Nobody loves a flair player more than Spurs but, if he ever thinks the club are progressing too slowly, he will move. One day he might want to play in a different country but time is on his side.
"I was 29 when I moved to Marseille and it was great for me. Their football suited me and they were in the Champions League when English clubs had been banned from Europe. But the grass is not always greener. If Bale leaves Tottenham, I hope it's for the right reasons."
