Voro recalls Canizares as Valencia beat Osasuna

New Valencia coach Voro oversaw an impressive 3-0 victory against Osasuna on his debut yesterday.

Santiago Canizares celebrated his recall by keeping a clean-sheet, while another of Ronald Koeman's shunned trio, Miguel Angel Angulo, made his 300th appearance for Valencia as he came off the bench for David Villa late on. David Albelda was also among the substitutes, but failed to make the field.

"The team has released some pressure and managed to win against a difficult opponent," said Voro. "We can look to the future with optimism, although we have not achieved anything. This victory does not solve all the problems - in the same way that if we had lost, we'd not have been left without any options."

He added: "Timo Hildebrand accepted the decision to play Santi. I always had confidence in Santi because he is mentally strong and could give us much-needed security at the back."
