Vitesse Arnhem are standing by Chelsea fullback Wallace.

The Brazilian returned to training on Monday after being arrested - and released - for a nightclub incident last week.

Wallace has been handed the maximum fine allowed at Vitesse and given a dressing down by coach Peter Bosz.

Vitesse sources, speaking with Voetbal International, insist Wallace is a "sweet, little guy", "But we're asking a lot from him in an educational sense.

"Should we accompany the boys better? That's nonsense.

"Stop this! A boy of 20 knows he should not be in the city. In my view this is single incident. We have a very disciplined group this year."
