Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has made it vehemently clear that he expects his side to beat Viktoria Plzen this week.
City head to the Czech Republic for the opening Champions League group stage clash on Tuesday night and the Chilean tactician is determined to record a victory after the clubs failures in this competition in the past two years.
"Of course we have to win this game,' he said. 'It's very important to start the group winning the first game," he said.
"The Champions League is the most important competition for us. City want to grow every year which means they cannot go out of the group stage. They have to advance.
"But the Champions League is never easy. If we think we have weak teams in our group, we are making a great mistake.
"Plzen is a very good team, they haven't lost for 13 or 14 games and they are the Czech champions, so we know it won't be easy."
