Vitale: Juventus, Napoli, Roma, Lazio & Inter Milan - Why we're witnessing the best Serie A season in years

We are lucky, because we are probably witnessing the most interesting Serie A in many years. Napoli, Juventus, Roma, Lazio and Inter: potentially, there are five teams within four points.

Roma is on a roll and if Giallorossi manage to beat Sampdoria in the rescheduled fixture, the gap with the leader of Serie A will be only of two points. Napoli at the moment is the leader, but Ghoulam's injury and Sarri's bad habits with turnovers caused a dangerous stop against Chievo Verona.

Inter lost two points also, against Torino. Nerazzurri are probably earning more than they deserve. For now, Spalletti's team is not playing good football and that could turn into a problem in the future.

Neither Juventus is expressing decent football, but Allegri hasn't discovered the full potential of Douglas Costa and Bernardeschi yet, two of their top signings. Juventus' defense seems to be a little more fragile without Bonucci, but the actual captain of Milan isn't playing good football himself. He seems insecure and irritable (in addition to this he already took a red card).

Milan's ownership has spent an enormous amount of money in order to win something or to achieve a qualification in Champions League, but at the moment this is very unlikely. Montella risks his place almost every match, various top signings are disappointing fans and the manager. Biglia, Rodriguez and Andrè Silva are the most disappointing signings. Evidently, this is not an easy situation to handle for Montella.

Roma's performances are known all over the world this season, especially for the exploit in Champions League. 3-3 at Stamford Bridge, 3-0 at Olimpico Stadium: Conte's Chelsea, Premier League champions, couldn't do anything against De Rossi and his teammates. Eusebio Di Francesco is showing his potential after his good experience with Sassuolo. His work is explaining why Monchi is one of the best sporting directors in Europe.

Roma plays beautiful football, has the best defense in Serie A, and Di Francesco can rely on many top players, including the new signing Kolarov (ex Manchester City, probably the best left back of the league). Unlike Sarri and Spalletti, he's using the entire squad and there are no reserves in the team. Everyone feels important. Even Gerson (only few minutes played last season, with Spalletti) managed to show his potential. Roma fans are getting excited and the season has just begun. Schick, one of the top signings of last Serie A's transfer window, is still injured but Monchi and Di Francesco bet everything on him and his overwhelming potential. If Roma keeps this rhythm, many journalists in Rome will have to change their mind about Eusebio Di Francesco.

Lazio is the biggest surprise of this season. Inzaghi's guys are playing good football, based on tough defense and fast counters. Ciro Immobile is probably in his best shape ever, he's scoring in every game and this is reason why Ventura will bet on him against Sweden. Milinkovic-Savic became one of the best midfielder of the league and Lucas Leiva seems to have returned to his Liverpool dyas. Lazio fans are starting to dream…

Last season biggest surprise was Atalanta, of course. Gasperini's guys are confirming their growth, especially in Europa League, but this season they will have a strong contender: Marco Giampaolo's Sampdoria, which is showing a very good football thanks to Torreira, Praet, Duvan Zapata and other talented players. Many top teams are aiming at Sampdoria's aces.

For example, Atletico Madrid made a first enquiry for Torreira. Next Serie A's transfer window will be very interesting. Napoli will have to replace the injured Ghoulam, Roma could buy a new central back (Gimenez of Atletico Madrid is a target, but he costs a lot), Inter will sign at least one top player (Sabatini is interested in Pastore and Ramires) and so on. We can bet Serie A will be fun this year.
