Vissel Kobe stave off relegation, keeping coach Wada in a job

J-League club Vissel Kobe were able to avoid relegation on the final day of the 2010 season with a 4-0 win over Urawa Reds.

The victory enabled Vissel to finish 15th on the table, just ahead of FC Tokyo, and maintain their position in Japan's top flight.

As well as keeping the club afloat, the result kept coach Masahiro Wada in his post and looking forward to next season.

"We battled and improved as a team late in the season," Wada said. "Our work rate started going up and I thought we had much more balance.

"Next season, we hope to build on the form we finished the year with."
