Vissel Kobe midfielder Andres Iniesta insists a move to Manchester City was never an option.

Iniesta was understood to have been contacted by City boss Pep Guardiola after deciding it was time to leave Barcelona.

"If I had contact with Pep? Zero. I saw that there had been contact announced by the press. I tell you there has been no conversation in this direction. I left no room for doubt," he said.

"I left Barça to leave Europe, so this information did not make any sense."

Asked if there were European offers, Iniesta added, "As far as I know, no. When you say something so categorical and resounding, it's a little against the grain. I was fortunate and proud to be in an elite club, which made me the happiest, and from there I made the decision to embark on another adventure."
