Vinnie Jones wants LA Galaxy star Beckham for Escape to Victory remake

LA Galaxy star David Beckham is wanted by Vinnie Jones in a bid to remake 'Escape to Victory'.

The 45-year-old ex-Wimbledon and Leeds United midfielder turned Hollywood actor is in talks with LA producers to star in an updated version of the 1981 flick.

And he hopes to give Becks - based in the US with wife Victoria and their boys - a SPEAKING role to clinch a box office hit and win over fans in America, where the original movie bombed. The first film featured Sir Michael Caine and Sylvester Stallone plus an assortment of soccer legends and was widely panned by critics.

A Hollywood source told The Sun: "The original footballers' acting skills were so wooden they wouldn't have looked out of place in Ikea.

"This time many players have acting experience and the producers reckon they can really make it work.

"Vinnie's already spoken to a few and some big names are keen to get involved. There's even talk of Caine and Sly getting cameo roles."
