Luke Young says Aston Villa set the tone for last week's defeat of Arsenal by "smashing into" the opposition early on.

"Some of the lads in the midfield like 'Siddie' (Steve Sidwell) set the tone by smashing into a couple early on,'' Young told the Birmingham Mail. "I think it just pumped everyone up.

"I was unaware of the results against Arsenal in the past. I was a bit surprised because I thought Villa might have had a bit more success against them.

"It was a massive game. We knew going into it that we were going to go there and have a go at them.

"We didn't just nick a goal and hang on for dear life, we actually had quite a few good chances."
