Aston Villa winger Ashley Young still harbours ambitions of representing England at the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa. Young admits he faces a tough task to force his way back into the fold but is confident that if he can deliver for Villa then his England call-up chances will be enhanced.
"The finals are still a long way away and the manager has said he will pick players on form," the 24-year-old winger said in the Sunday Mirror.
"It's a long season and you must keep that consistency going. If you can do that then fingers crossed you'll be on the plane.
"It's going to be a tough decision for him (Capello) to make in the end because there are a lot of players who will be in contention, but he said he'll pick players who are on form and on top of their game.
"That's a big incentive for me to keep playing well for Villa because that's where you get the recognition."
