Villa's Young happy to play with "smile on my face"

Aston Villa winger Ashley Young admits he always tries to play with a smile on his face.

This season's early revelation told Aston Villa News & Record: "I always try to play with a smile on my face and I'm enjoying the way things are going.

"We had a disappointing start to the season against Liverpool but it was a good result against Newcastle and I thought we could have nicked it up there.

"I'm very excited about my first full season at Villa. I didn't want last season to end and now I'm looking forward to getting more games under my belt.

"There's always a good banter among the lads and everyone joins in, which helps us to bond. It's usually me or Gabby (Agbonlahor) who starts things off but all the boys chip in. If you have a good team spirit you can take that on to the pitch with you.

"People sometimes say I'm Mr. Versatile but as long as I'm in the team I don't mind where I play. There are quite a few versatile players in the game right now and it obviously helps the manager if you're able to play in a number of positions."
