The England man admitted: "There's been a few comments. That's the team spirit we have got here.
"Everyone gets on with everyone and there's always a few jokes between people.
"Off the pitch everyone is happy and the place is buzzing - then you take that on to the pitch and it sets you in good stead.
"It was a nice compliment. It's always nice to have praise from the manager but it's down to me at the end of the day to produce.
"I think the best winger in the world is Messi. It's nice for the gaffer to say things like that but I want to concentrate on myself and do well for the team.
"I try different things and if they come off, they come off. If they don't, they don't. I've got to keep getting at my defender. If this keeps going until the end of the season I'll be happy."
