Aston Villa fullback Nicky Shorey says he's put his England ambitions on the backburner.

"England? I haven't given it a thought,'' he told the Birmingham Mail.

"It is too early for me at Villa. I am still bedding in, still trying to do things the right way and how the coaches want, which is a bit different from the way I was used to.

''But I am sure I will get there in the end. I am enjoying it and hopefully it will get better and better.

"It's tough when you have played so many games. It takes its toll but we are doing so well and it is good to be involved in games."
