Nigel Reo-Coker is enjoying his midfield partnership with Aston Villa captain Gareth Barry.

Reo-Coker told Villa's website: "Gareth's had a fantastic season. I've always rated him very highly - even before I came to Aston Villa. I've always said he was a top, top player.

"People are telling me now that he really has stepped up to another level this year and I'm really happy for him. He deserves it. He's a great player and one of the nicest people I know.

"Our partnership has worked well. He's very attack minded and creative, while I'm the more defensive minded ball winner. It's the perfect balance.

"Throughout the season I think we have dominated quite a few midfield battles. We hope to continue in the same vein and get into Europe."
