Aston Villa midfielder Stiliyan Petrov has revealed he's taking French lessons, but insists he's happy at the club.

He told the Sunday Mercury: "I've had a few French lessons and I'm just seeing how it goes. I was keen to learn another language and I wanted to speak French so hopefully in a year's time I will be able to do that.

"People say Spanish is the easier language to learn but I like France. Me and my wife have been on holiday there a few times and we really enjoy it, so I want to learn the language and find out more about the country."

Petrov added: "You can ask everybody at the club, I've been coming here every morning happy, laughing and joking even when I wasn't playing. I hope the Villa fans will see more from me and I'm hoping it will be a massive season next year."
