Aston Villa attacker Shaun Maloney is banking on a long UEFA Cup run helping him establish himself this season.

He said: "If we can have a good run in Europe it becomes more of a squad game for us this season.

"The more games we play, the higher the likelihood of getting injured and suspended increases. That's where your squad comes in."
