Aston Villa signing Zat Knight yesterday protested his innocence after he was arrested on Wednesday, only hours before joining Villa.
The 27-year-old was detained by police, along with his 26-year-old brother Carlos, after controlled drugs were seized at his family home in Birmingham. Knight was released on bail but Carlos has been charged with possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
"I have done nothing wrong," insisted Knight. "The police said they had to bring me to a station and they were just doing their job, so I cooperated with them." He insisted O'Neill had backed him over the incident. "I have spoken to Martin O'Neill about it and he gave me his full support. He realises I have done nothing wrong."
